About pcAntivirusReviews.com Editor Kevin R. Smith
Kevin's entry into the world of antivirus software began around 2001 when he was CTO of a credit card processing company.
The short version of the story goes like this: there was a virus loose on the customer service portion of the network, and his first order of business as the new CTO was to get rid of the virus.
But what software should he buy? What would solve the problem best? After all, there was already antivirus software on the network, and the virus had gotten past it.
For better or worse, since there was really nowhere to go for independent tests and reviews of antivirus software, it meant he'd have to conduct his own tests.
With help from friends and colleagues he built his first antivirus software test lab and the testing began. Armed with the test results, he purchased new antivirus software for the company and got rid of the virus.
Time passed, and his collection of viruses and other malware to test the antivirus software with grew, and turned into new regular antivirus software tests.
Around 2005 Kevin and site Co-Editor Josh Christofferson met. Josh had done quite a bit of tech writing, and the two of them combined forces to create www.pcAntivirusReviews.com.
Since 2006, the two have been leading a small team in testing, rating and reviewing the top products in the industry, testing everything from detection and removal rates to usability and customer service, in other words: looking at the big picture of how software works.
Kevin lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and their (growing-up-too-fast) son.
