Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + Antispyware 2012 Review
Category I: Virus & Spyware Protection
    Real-time Virus Protection 89 93
    Manual Virus Scanning 87 95
    Virus Removal 83 92
    USB Virus Scanning 77 76
    Spyware Detection 91 90
    Antivirus Updates 91 90
Winner: Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + Antispyware 2012
Panda has a sticker price $10 higher than Trend Micro. Is it worth your 10 bucks?

In terms of Virus and Spyware Protection, it was an incredibly close call.

We weren't thrilled with either program's antivirus updater, but that's the least important of the items in this Category.

Looking at the more important areas like Spyware detection helps give a clearer picture, and Panda wins the comparison.
    Category II: Additional Security Features
    Web Protection 89 93
    Chat/IM Protection 0 90
    Email Protection 0 75
Winner: Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + Antispyware 2012
Trend Micro Titanium delivers features Panda doesn't, plain and simple.

Sure, they're equals in terms of web protection but since Panda is lacking both IM and email protection, it's a no-brainer: Trend Micro gets the Category win.
    Category III: Other Usability Factors
    Installation 79 85
    Uninstallation 95 94
    Resource Usage 80 75
    User Interface 70 67
    Technical Support 68 83
Winner: Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + Antispyware 2012
Panda's one Achille's heel in usability is their technical support, which just isn't as good as Trend's.

And, as crazy as it may seem that Panda could win four of five sub-categories within Usability and still not win the Category, that's what happened here.

The fact is, we put a lot of emphasis on the quality of a company's technical support, so when one company outperforms another in tech support as radically as Trend Micro outperformed Panda in our tests, it has a huge effect on who wins and loses a category.

So, thanks to their far superior support, Trend pulls out an upset victory.

It's worth saying though, Panda does out-perform Trend in each and every other area of usability, so if tech support isn't all that important to you, Panda is worth considering, in spite of its slightly higher price tag.
    Conclusion:
    vs.
This was an upset victory of Trend over Panda, no doubt about it.

Panda walked all over Trend Micro in all of our usability tests except for technical support.

On top of that, it also out-did Trend overall in our Virus & Spyware Protection tests, too.

So how does it get the win?

Panda lost significant points because it lacks IM and email protection and because its support was weak compared to Trend.

So, when we weight each areas accordingly and add up the totals, Trend Micro gets a win.
