Panda Internet Security 2012 |
- Panda Internet Security 2012 was mislabeled as 2011 in the download link.
- After installation, Panda sent us an email in Spanish (we're English speakers), and it was only one line of text. No graphics or anything to indicate it was from Panda other than the email address. Very strange.
- No shortcut was created on the desktop for Panda, but there was a shortcut for something called "BeAnywhere" which is an up-sell remote desktop and syncing service. Would have been nice to just have a short cut to Panda -- the actual product I installed.
- The "Safe Browser" feature is simply a link to install Sun VirtualBox. It's not integrated into Panda at all, and it failed to install correctly making this feature useless.
Not a good start for Panda Internet Security 2012.
As for actual virus, spyware, and malware protection, Panda performed averagely for some of the independent testing labs, but fell short in critical areas during more testing.
Panda's firewall is decent, but their real-time protection is spotty: most zero-day threats were blocked, but several slipped through. Antiphishing protection was poor, as was virus removal and clean-up.
The user interface is functional, but so black and dark that it's very unpleasant to look at.
Their customer support pages are difficult to navigate at times, and they only offer paid support for most issues.
There isn't much to like with Panda Internet Security 2012. A decent firewall isn't enough for an Internet security suite.
