Not only does Internet Security 2008 integrate Kaspersky's top-notch antivirus, but you also get a powerful firewall, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and anti-hacker applications all rolled into one, easy to use application.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2008 Gives Maximum PC Protection

For any kind of threat out there, whether it's viruses, spammers, hackers, or phishers, Kaspersky is the best we've found in 2008. Aside from Kaspersky's impressive anti-virus protection, the integrated firewall is designed to keep out malware in the first place. It actively scans all incoming attempts to alter your PC and asks you if you want to let them through or not. It's like having a concrete wall between you and the internet with a little gate and a tough bouncer. If he sees trouble, that malicious threat doesn't get in.

Is there any downside to Kaspersky Internet Security 2008?

The anti-spam feature is a little weak. In independent tests, the Kaspersky spam filter mislabeled 30% of legitimate email as spam, and over 30% of spam made it through the filter. Not a great track record. This feature does allow you to manually whitelist and blacklist your email, but why should you have to do the work for the software?

Also, the new parental controls are basic at best. It can block URLs, blacklist inappropriate sites, and limit a child's activity. Nothing stellar here, but off to a good start for Kaspersky.

Support

Conclusion

Kaspersky Internet Security 2008 is a fantastic, total protection PC application. You get excellent anti-virus, anti-phishing, anti-spyware, firewall, adequate parental controls, and less than stellar anti-spam features. All and all, aside from the anti-spam functions, Kaspersky really cut out a place for themselves at the top of the heap.
